Default accord euro r h22 oilpan question

hello all. I have searched, and have not found an answer to this. I have a 2001 accord euro r h22, and Ibelieve there is a small leak from the oilpan. I have replaced all of the minor and major seals, and I still have a small leak in the area of the oilpan where the block and transaxle leak. Has anyone taken down and accord euro r oilpan? Does it have a gasket at all? My oilpan is black, so does that mean it is steel? Also you can see the bead of sealent all the way around the pan, but i know sometimes sealent and gaskets are used in conjunction. I just want to know if there is a gasket, so i can acquire one before i pull the pan. thanks

I can't speak specifically for the Euro R, however, my H22a1 had a steel pan, and there is a gasket which I used sealant with as well when I replaced mine. Being that they are the same block casting, and both use a steel pan, I can't see why this would've changed. Also, from what I've seen as a mechanic, the majority of cars with steel pans and aluminum blocks do have a gasket.

Even if for some odd reason the Euro R didn't have a gasket there, you could always purchase one for an H22a or a4 something like that and see if it lines up and if it does, toss it in there and see if it solves your leak.

It's probably similar to the H22A4. The Euro-R motor was a very late production model, even later than the A4.

It also has a different oil pan than the Preludes.

this is true, because i had a regular jdm h22 in there that i purchased from osaka, and i had a megan racing header on it. I had to pull that motor and send it back, because it smoked horrendously. I purchased the euro r motor here locally, and i put the megan header on it and the oilpan got in the way, so i had to order a different header to clear it.

Just drop the pan and check out the gasket, it might use something more similar to the OBD2 H22a where there is just a gasket where the oil pump is and the rest is just honda bonded. Even if the pan is different in terms of its capacity and baffling the area where it meets the block should be the same since all H blocks are similar minus the open/closed decks.

Actually the 'oil pan gasket' for the H22A4 motor is a rubber seal at the flywheel side of the motor. The rest of the pan is sealed using Ultra Flange II sealant NOT HONDABOND, but I suppose you could use Hondabond.

Oops, could have sworn the dip in the pan was on the oil pump side, my mistake. When I took my pan off to clean the pickup screen it had honda bond on it though so I figured it used that. =/

:UPDATE: I pulled the pan, and there is no gasket on the euro r motor at all. It required ultraflange all the way around. its been 3 days, and the area has stayed dry, so hopefully I have put an end to this annoying oil leak. Thanks to all for your replies
