prelude has a lot less suspension travel than teg or civic. ive heard quite a few people complain about bottoming out when they start tucking the wheels

Koni Yellow/Ground Controls is an AWESOME setup.
Myself personally, I have D2 coilovers on all my cars, simply because we're direct with D2, and they're a DAMN good bang-for-the-buck coilover setup. They do great on the track (Yes, I track them), and they do great on the street.
Getting D2 brakes for the R soon.

Re: (wle05)
would the prelude have less suspension travel because of the torsion bars from the front crossmember to the lower control arm? I really dont want to raise my car up but it bottoms out too bad on bumps. any info is greatly appreciated.

looks like the OEM lip kit, SH has the same bumpers and side skirts as the base model.

I will chime in, at that drop you have gone past horizontal on you control arms, so you have gotten out of the suspensions proper working range, and the wheels have to travel differently when they hit bumps, which will suck, and is bad for handling and holding your car together. Not to mention you are probably knocking your upper arms! I found that by trimming away some fender liner on my 4th gen, it helped alot with noise, but dropped at that level its extremely harsh and bottoms easily, compared to raised back up 1/2 inch or so, car rides better and doesnt sound like **** is broken every bump you hit! Plus it tracks better.

Its nice to know you have options as far as suspension goes. I own a 3rd gen and I had Ksports design their Kontrol Pro kit for the 88-91 Preludes.
I love my Ksports Kontrol Pros as well, they are a direct competitor to the TEIN Flex, with 0-36 dampeing adjustability and 0"-3" height adjustability as well.
My lude has outstanding handling with just regular coilover sleeves, but the Ksports puts the whole ride on rails!! Its night and day with these kits.
Because I worked with Ksports USA to get these made, they required me to become a dealer, so I can get you a good price on these if you are interested.
Here is mine:
