'87 alternator replacement - stuck
I'm replacing the alternator in my '87 Prelude (1.8 L, dual carburetor). Got the belt off, disconnected the wiring, removed the mounting bolts....... can't get the alternator out of the engine compartment.... don't have room to pull it out from above or below. Manual says to remove the air filter which we did. Even removed the oil filter. Still won't slide out...... after several hours of trying, ended up putting it back in and having a beer(s). There must be an easier way?

where is the alternator on the 87? if it's in the back, under the master cyliner, you'll have to pull an axle. B and D engines are like that.

Yes, it's pigeon-holed in under the master cylinder, near the firewall. Drop the axle? Holy cow, never done that before...... how hard is that?
