tranny swap gone wrong
Just in case anyone else was planning to do an auto to manual swap....do NOT get the tranny out of a 4th gen accord....
just got the tranny in, and the mount bolted on (after a few hours of using a prybar) andddd....none of the rear mount bracket holes line up, the engine is leaning way too far back and is at an angle in the bay instead of being in the straight line from left to right like it should be...
TREMENDOUS waste of time =/ Hope this prevents anyone else from going through all this for nothing...
Gonna try to find a H23 tranny....anyone in the chicago area with one let me know hahaha

its not that bad if you had done some reSEARCH 1st, you would not have bought a **** *** accord trans.the passenger side mount tab has to be redrilled so your engine will sit right.

Re: tranny swap gone wrong
i really...really REALLY wish it were jus that easy. everything after 91 (yes this was research done after the fact...cuz i'm an idiot and this tranny was the only one available at the time) uses the same mounts as preludes...but 90 and 91 use an entirely different mount and mounting position...it WANTS to be mounted about 1-2 inches towards the front of the car, so even if i did drill the mountaing bracket on my car, the engine would still sit cockeyed....THIS is info i couldnt find...noone had tried it, so noone knew.... so i ordered the mount and bracket from honda after i realized the prelude/5th gen accord mount and bracket wouldnt work, tried it, and now here i am....
Ohh well, everyones gotta have some failures before success right?
