Default 1998 Prelude

I have an automatic 1998 prelude. It looks like it was in a flood, everything has been replaced, fuel pump, plugs, wires, distrubuter, all fuses, exedra. Motor is in good condition. Last things is no spark, has voltage but just not giving spark, fuel pump primes. ECU and controller have not been replaced. So I'm thinking ECU . Question is if I buy a used one do I need to have a chip put to keep from buying a key and controler or what are my options. I'v read several several threads and can't find a solid answer. Any help is very appreciated.

Check all fuses, those in the engine bay and those down by the driver side kickboard. Open up the ecu and check for any burned spots.

I'v already done that, I'm just trying to find my options of what has to be replaced with the ECU. It rained last night and the car apparently also has the notorious Lude passenger leak. And the previous owner had the dash taken out at some point in time and did not put the drain tube back in the correct place. There are literally water marks on the control unit.

A 1998 will have the immobilizer, so if you buy another ecu, you need the keys and locks/ ignition switch to match it, or will have to get things re-programmed.

Thats what I thought, I know you can also buy a dummy chip and then bypass the keys & locks/ ignition switch. But I not sure on the exact name. Do you know if I need the exact same year ecu?

Never heard of the dummy chip thing.

If you buy an obII to obdI adapter and run an pbdI ecu yes, but I don't know if you can find one that will control the SS trans in the 5th gen.
