Default Why stretch the swing arm?

I did a couple of quick searches, both here and on google, and haven't been able to find a good answer to why people stretch their swing arm.

If it's just for looks I guess I can kinda understand that, but why would you stretch it on a sport bike? Is it better for drag racing? It doesn't seem like it would help handling any, and it almost looks ricey in some cases:

It makes the bike less likely to wheelie in drag racing but mostly its for the bling factor. And yes it negatively affects handling.

Stretching was for drag bikes so the wheel stayed on the ground easier now its for show. An that first bike looks completely retarded

to me 4-agetog63's stretch is a lot more tasteful then those otherones.
Although i still wouldn't do it myself i think 4-age's bike is pretty nice, and definitely not ricey.

Yes stretching is done to be less wheely prone. Or, you can just buy an SV650 and not have to worry about it

THank you.

Edit: On another note, at the track two weeks ago before i wrecked my bike later that night coming home, there was a guy on a red and black sv650s who was his first day racing...he launched and came up about shoulder high, lol, puckered his butt hole up and he put too much rear brake into the thought, locked it up, slammed down, got a little sideways...saved it...and putted down the strip feeling stupid.

Yeah he came up to me and told me he wanted to sTr3tch it like mINezzz. I told him to stay away from the dragstrip, lol.

bah, drag racing an SV650 is retarded.
when i said you don't have to worry about it with an SV i merely meant that power wheelies aren't a big deal. I can slam it hard in 1st gear and the front end just gets light, even with a +2 rear sprocket. But, the suspension geometry i've got now isn't exactly wheelie condusive.

Put it up on the rear stand...parts slowly trickling in. I'll have a thread made within a day or so full writeup of wreck, wreck pics, and progress of re-make.
