Push Starting FI Bikes?
have any of you guys with fuel injected bikes ever pushed started your bike when your battery was pretty much dead?
i have a f4i and have attempted it before, but never succesful. i've seen my friend do it to his f4, but it's carb'ed. so does the fact that mine has an ECU and is FI not allow push starting to work?
TIA!

That's a good question, I wonder...
As a total guess, I would say no. Without electrical power the injectors won't fire so no fuel. Unless there is a mechanism to injectors that I don't know of that allows them to work without power.
Someone go try this, I can't my bike is carbed.

it works on f4i's... ive seen it done you just have to push it on the side and hop on the seat to get traction when you do it... you can do it on fi cars cant you ?

so you're absolutely sure it was an f4i?
i'll have to try it next time. i'm guessing with a carb'ed bike, when you're pushing it up to speed before you let the clutch out in 2nd gear should generate enuf momentum and vacuum to get the fuel flowing and for you to not stop in your tracks.
but this assumes there is enuf juice to power things, just not start it up (headlight, lcd display are still on, so i'm assuming ECU also).

like others said, you can do it, i have done it with my bike, but without the power to prime the injectors it is pretty hard, a long space to do it helps. i have always had enough batt power to prime the injectors and she fires right up

Its the same concept as it would be for those of you who've accidentally hit ur kill switch while riding down the freeway (fookin thumb )
It'll work
