CBR 600rr or CBR F4i 600
#4
The F4i is more street oriented. The seat sits lower and is more comfortable. Although the f4i runs a faster 1/4 time than the RR, the RR is more of a performance track oriented bike. If you're looking for a street bike and ride your gf around, get the f4i. However, appearance wise, the 600RR IMO is the one of the best looking bikes ever made.

The F4I runs a faster 1/4? That doesn't make sense, I thought the RR was the track oriented model?

in the broad spectrum on it all, who cares about 2/10's of a second when you are already blowing out 10's stock? i doubt anyone buys a 600 with the sole intention of drag racing anyways.

Yes it does. The F4i is lighter than the 600RR, but the 600RR has moer top end power. BUt who cares about the quarter mile? honestly. The 600RR is more stable on turns. Likewise, the F4i is more comfortable, but you can always replace the seat of the RR for an aftermarket one. Another difference is that the RR doesn't have a lot of trunk space due to the underseat exhaust, the f4i has more trunk space. If you are a new rider, i would recommend getting the F4i, look wise the RR hands down. Oh and to answer someone's question, only the new F4i has the banana seat, the slightly older ones doesn't and it looks good.

my rr has a penske rear shock, revalved + resprung forks (racetechs), a damper and some super sticky tires; i can honestly say it is so easy to toss into corners. possibly the smoothest handling bike i've ever rode.

i like the RR better. I think it looks a lot better.
The F4i kinda reminds me of a YZF600R looks more like a standard bike to me than a sport bike. I seem to like the older F4 better.

But not a good first bike..imo. Anyway it depends what you want to do with it... if you were going to stunt i'd get an F4i

I recently got my f4i. It is an awesome bike. Also, don't take away the impression the f4i is at all slow or underpowered. I have had mine for about 5 days and all i can say is .
Another thing to consider is insurance. I was honestly between these 2 bikes and my insurance made the decision for me.

J/K, I still love her anyways

Re: CBR 600rr or CBR F4i 600 (eric_si)
insurance is not a problem.
my brother has a 04' R1 and i ride that quite a bit, so i've got some experience with the bike. I do not want to stunt, race, or track the bike. I just want something I can cruise around town on, go ride with my brother, and maybe take a few trips to like a bike feast or something. I could care less which bike runs a faster 10 sec 1/4 because most bikes are fast as hell anyways and I will never try to test that 1/4 on the street.
I will take a look at both the RR and the F4i though.
EDIT: I like the look of that banana seat

with a decent driving record (1 ticket) state farm quoted me 900/year for full coverage on my 600rr with a $500 deductable. unfortunatly my record is not good, but that dirty cheap for a new bike.

Re: (Ashish)
I'm not sure I need a new bike. I'm sure I will lay it down eventually as I hear everyone does. *brother layed his old GSX-R600 down* If I go drop 8 or 9 k on a new bike I would be pissed if I dropped it. I can probably find a 02-03 bike for around 5 in "immaculate" condition

Re: (NCSTIdriver)
Frame sliders work wonders. 905 makes some frame protectors bars whatever you call them, those are even better.
Anyway, i dropped my bike twice already. Not a damn thing. Just scratched up my frame sliders, thats all.

Re: (BallHawk3)
the '01 - '03 F4i's do not have the banana seat.
people bash the banana seats because they don't understand that while the R6 & GSX-600R had watered-down street versions (YZF600 & the Katana 600 respectively) to cater people that are looking for something sporty enough yet not back-breaking for everyday commute, the F4i soldiered on carrying both sport/comfort duties. Honda installed the Banana seats again (actually some euro versions of the pre-'04 F4i's had the banana seats as well) because the F4i no longer needed to compete with other Supersports. they got the 600RR for that
just ask yourself this, what kind of riding will you be doing the most? realistically, the F4i is more than capable to overwhelm most if not all beginners if proper respect was not established (not implying that the original poster is a newb). it takes skills to unlock the "extra goods" on the 600RR imo.
street = F4i
track duties = RR
p.s: the stock 600RR seat pinches the hell out of my ***. but then again it's also a cheap fix

A friend of mine has the 905 bars. I would never put those on my bike.
