Default Fit vs. Accord? Can't make up mind.

I cross posted this in the Accord forum as well. Trying to get as much input as possible.

Well it's time to buy a new car and I'm stuck between a new Accord and a Fit.

I'm 29 and won't be drag racing it although I may do an autocross or 2. I'm single with no kids. I only drive about 10 miles to work and back. I just can't make up my mind. I *don't* want something that I'm going to be tempted to mod a lot. Right now it's between an EX coupe 5-spd and a Sport 5-spd. The fit wins on utility, audio, price, and handling. The Accord wins on speed and comfort.

Any advice? It's probably too much to ask but has anyone else compared the 2 of these?

fit all the way man you wont regret it fun car to drive great for auto x ... only reason i would go w/ the accord is for power but other than that the fit is the **** ... i have one i use to work for honda drove accords and any honda car out there .... v6 accords have power no doubt but i am sure you wont regret getting the fit ... that and great gas milage

I agree! Fit all the way!

When buying my car I compared the both of these two! I sided with the Fit because it had more to offer, despite the power. A week later, my cousin, who lives next door, got an Accord EX coupe. I compared the both of em, and was even more happy with my decision!

If the choice is between the Fit or a V6 Accord, I'd choose the Accord. If it's just the 4cyl, it's tough.

I'm starting to feel like I want more room in a car. After work (standing all day) I feel the need to stretch my legs and I can't do that in my Fit.

Depends if you like small cars or larger cars. I love small cars. Thats the main reason I got a fit over a civic si is size. If you want more power than the fit has stock, do an engine swap with a k20 with the difference in price. Thats the way I see it.

size wise I like both. In the past 2 years I've had a CRX, Del Sol, & Accord.

The biggest thing holding me off is mods & style. I won't do anything mod wise until the warranty runs out other than possibly wheels & suspension. I used to work for Honda and I know how big a pain in the *** it can be to get warranty work done on a modified car regardless of the legality. I'm not sure the Fit has enough power for that. On the other hand, I'm in the process of moving to the foothills with mountain roads about 20 minutes away so the handling would be nice (I just don't want to lug up the damn mountain though).

Then there's the looks. No matter what, the Accord looks like a nicer car. Now that I'm getting older, that actually matters. The Fit can look badass but it will always look like an econo car or old civic.

I'm going to go drive both today so hopefully that will help some.

I currently own an '03 Accord v6 5 speed auto and I test drove a Fit S 5 spd today which I may pick up on Monday.

The Accord is such a nice car to drive. The sunroof, black leather interior, and its comfortability definitely win over the Fit's interior. Plus the 244 hp v6 is so fun to romp on, especially when you're blowing any pesky ricer's off the road.

The Fit, however, wins in gas mileage, insurance cost, practicality, and autoX'ing of course (which are all the reasons I'm looking at the Fit, minus the autoXing which my wife would kill me for).

I think that if I were in the same position as you, I'd go with the Fit. The Fit is fun to drive and is inexpensive at the same time.

I picked up my 2007 Blaze Orange Metallic Fit today and I absolutely love driving it! So now I get to drive our Accord and Fit, and both of them are incredible machines. I like driving the Fit more, though. The Accord is my wife's car anyways.

Wouldn't comparing a Civic coupe be a better comparison?

I think if you're going to mod, get the fit. If not, a Civic (Si). My $.02

Well, I don't think the OP is looking for biased answers. It also depends on what he is looking for. I personally would go with the accord over the fit because of comfort, more options, luxury, and more up scale. Plus you only drive 10 miles to work, so gas should not be a problem with the accord.

Well I own both and I enjoy the Fit more. Even if I only drove ten miles a day, I'd still go with the Fit. Can't beat price, insurance, gas and auto Xing potential. Accord loses in all those categories. Accord has more power, comfort is arguable, but unless you're a 6'6" 300 lbs man, Fit has plenty of room.

Those new Si sedan are pretty sweet. I guess that meets the compromise between power, room, and gas mileage .
