Got another stumper with my daughters 2000 CRV. Her check engine light is on so I put my OBD II reader on it and get a code for the Vapor canister. No specifics just that it involves the Vapor Canister. Any idea what I need to do? I was told by one person that I need to replace the "filter" in it yet when I search for parts I can not find a separate "filter", just the whole unit which is quite expensive. BTW....I have tried the re-seating of the gas cap deal with no luck. Is it possible that the gas cap is worn and that it has a bad seal causing enough of a leak to set the sensor off? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Evap code is usually the gas cap I believe.

Thanks for the responses guys. Sorry I wasn't able to respond sooner but right after I posted I got hit in the head with a good dose of the flu and have been down and out ever since. Anyway, I'll be darned if I can find the piece of paper that I wrote the code down on but I thought it was something like P1457. I will hook up the OBD II reader again when I'm a little better and verify that code and and report back. Thanks

If it was P1457; P1457 is leak detected in EVAP control system (EVAP control canister system). Although it may be something else on the canister side of the EVAP system, some of the usual culprits are the EVAP bypass solenoid valve or the EVAP vent shut valve. You may want to do some test before replacing any parts.

If it was the gas cap, that would be P1456, leaked detected in EVAP Control System (Fuel Tank System). P1456 can be due to other things too, not just a gas cap.
