Gen1 CRV - Metallic Sound
Sound seems to be coming from the rear end, can not decipher if it is drivers or pass side (need to get someone in the back and listen). If the roads are smooth and traveling ex. 60mph, I can hear a metallic whirring sound. If I bear left to follow the curve of the road it gets louder. If I bear right, it gets quieter. If I sway the car down the road left and right (like I am warming up the tires) the noise will follow the same loud on left, quiet on right pattern.
If I am driving straight and the road is slanted off to the right. (left wheel is on the higher plane, right side bearing more weight) the sound is like I am bearing left. Vice versa if slanted left.
I at first thought it was due to low fluid level in diff. but I changed that and topped it off with fresh fluid. No difference.
I am kinda thinking a wheel bearing is starting to go bad but wanted some other suggestions if possible.
Has 114k miles on it and I have had it for a year but only put like 250 miles on it. Don't know much about previous history.

Re: Gen1 CRV - Metallic Sound
Here is a video I made a while back.
It is not a sound that has bass to it but try and focus on the higher pitched metal sound you can hear. The bass rumbling sound I think was due to my snow tires.

I would strongly agree with you that it is the wheel bearing. When making sweeping turns and the noise gets louder that is generally a dead giveaway that you have wheel bearing noise. Is it AWD? If so it's very easy to confirm on a lift.
