In my 2001 CR-V I'll take my foot off my brake pedal and it'll squeak. Has anybody else had this problem and would cleaning the drum brakes make a difference?

When is the last time you had your brake pads and rotor checked/changed?

About 15,000 miles ago I put on a new set of pads / rotors. In the last couple of 1,000 miles it started making this sound.

Is the sound coming from the rear or front brakes. Sounds like the rear shoes are rubbing on the backing plate and is making the squeak noise. Take the drums off and put a bit of anti seize compound between the 3 touching places on the backing plate between the shoes.

As far as I can tell it's from the rear so I'll definitely try what you suggested.

Figured I would update this in case anybody else has this problem. What natsuke suggested made the noise go away
