so I just bought a morimoto h1 kit from retrofit source, and im having some trouble here

the HID bulb does not fit into the hole in the headlight where the OEM bulb was

also the OEM bulb uses a plastic base to lock into the metal retaining clip, which the HID bulb cannot utilize, how do I get around this?

and please dont answer with do a projector retrofit, thanks

If the glass portion of the bulb won't physically fit through the opening in the back of the lens, I think your only option would be to Dremel, or somehow enlarge the hole in the back of the lens. I don't see any way for you to modify the bulb glass or the electrode on the side.

If you can get the bulb through the hole in the lens, you might be able to buy a fender washer that's the diameter of that hollowed out circle in the back of the headlight housing. If you enlarge the hole in the center of the fender washer to the point that it fits over the HID bulb terminals, the retention spring would sit against the face of the fender washer and that would keep tension against the bulb. That's about all I got.

That being said, HID performance benefits GREATLY from projector lenses. When HIDs are used in regular reflector lenses, the beam tends to diffuse and glare. I bought a set of Oracle CREE LED bulbs for my 2001 CR-V and I've been happy with them so far. No switch to projectors and the beams are nicely focused.
