2000 Honda CR-V Temp Gauge Issue
Hey all,
2000 Honda CR-V Temp gauge doesn't register anything at all, and just stays below C. This causes the check engine light to come on because nothing is being registered. The gauge stopped working after the radiator cracked and the car overheated.
Any ideas if this is an easy fix? Is it the T-stat? A sender in the T-stat housing? Or something else?
Thanks in advance!

DO IT ON ALL FOURS
Re: 2000 Honda CR-V Temp Gauge Issue
The temperature gauge is not connected to the ECU so it won't throw be the reason for your code. You need to tell us what the code is as many things could have happened from your mishap including causing the sending unit for the gauge and / or the sensor for the ECU to go bad. They have resistance ranges you can check at ambient temp. They are located on the side of the cylinder head below the distributor. It's more important that you pull the codes first.

Okay, thanks for the responses guys. I got the code read yesterday: Omission code P1456. I guess I'll start with a new gas cap? When I disconnect the battery the check engine light goes off and then after about 10-15 minutes comes back on. I replaced the valve cover gasket about 7 months ago, not sure if that could somehow be related.
