You need a specific fob and it varies by tthe year and a few other factors ,
just google search a site that can translate the VIn , , the translation , will provide youwith the FCC ID for your vehicle,
once you have the FCC iD there are number of websites that sell the fob you need
Ihad to get a duplicate fob this past friday, and so I typed the FCC iD of the back of myfob and I instantly had 10 different places to buy a fob, and prices ran the gammit, and therre is even a market for used fobs that i would never have guessed existed
btw, Orchard Suppply hardware can make you another key for $106.00 our local dealer wanted $285

Once you get a new transmitter you can program it yourself in a matter of minutes with no special tools. I have posted the instructions on another thread but it would probably be easier to just find a YouTube video.

Any idea how to program the trunk key? I manage to do the door, but the tailgate doesn't seem to work.

Re: 2000 CR-V 4WD 5spd Keyfob questions !!!
So I just programmed my FOB yesterday and it seems to only unlock and lock on the driver side door. The car is 98 CRV, LX model 4wd manual. I am unsure if this is just the case with the LX model since it is the base. It still has the stock Honda cassette player so the brain is there for the FOB. It would be crappy if they designed it like that for the LX model. Any help or finger pointing me into the right direction would be great! TIA

mine is 2000 CRV LX 5spd manual . Did you buy the same keyfob that I posted ? I had the same issue like you ...it only works on the driver right after I programmed but then I stand out outside the car and keep lock and unlock ( like 20 times or so lol) and finnally it works on all doors . You will have to press lock button twice to get the beep sound then one click unlock ( to get the driver open ) then press unlock button again to unlock all 4 doors . For the trunk , just hold that " trunk button " on the key fob ...you will hear a click means the trunk its unlock !!

If the car doesn't recognize that the driver's door has unlocked it won't unlock the rest. The lock actuator may be physically functioning but not recognizing the lock position.
