1999 CRV Alternator brush assembly: Doesn't match up
Hi all,
I purchased a bearing and brush rebuild kit for the alternator on my 1999 CRV.
I dissembled the "top" half of the alternator, removed the brush assembly and fitted the new brush replacement. When I put it into place I noticed the higher mounting tab/connection mated properly but the lower tab was too high. In other words, there's a gap between the tab and the mounting post.I removed the replacement and put the old brush assembly into place and it had the same gap. ?????
I then noticed that the screw for the side with the gap was rusted where the gap is present. I'm guessing it was always like this.
Can anyone shed light on this setup?
