Default Re: What Type of Motor Oil?

Currently running rotella t6 5w40 with an oem filter. previously ran valvoline vr1 10w30 for one change but it's pretty pricey and can only be had at napa and the one by me closed down. before that i was running mobile 1 10w30, but for my style of driving, and being boosted, i didn't feel it had enough zinc in it.

that being said, i have about 50k on my rings and bearings, and have no idea how many miles on my oil pump, rods/pistons, or head. junk yard build ftw. either way i drive it hard almost every time in her, she gets a lot of high rpm drives and does burn/leak a little bit, but the t6 seems to be keeping consumage down a bit. vs the other oil's i have ran

Rotella 10w30 w/ K&N filter currently
Rotella 15w40 w/ K&N filter when i was turbo

engine has a fresh rebuild and considered synthetic, but the price is rather high v/ conventional.
