Default were is your resonator located? does it matter? post pics

im thinking about putting on a bigger resonator. currently i have a 17" and i want to replace it with a 22". the way it is set up right now is the cat is welded to the header and the resonator is welded to the cat. i think i would like to move the resonator back just before the piping starts to bend. will this change my sound any? meaning does the location of the resonator have an effect on the sound? any how please either decribe were and how long your resonator is, pics would be helpful too.

Ask your local exhaust shops.

why would an exhaust shop not know anything about how exhaust works?????

step 1, find new exhaust shop
step 2, get exhaust done at new shop
step 3, look at step 1-2

Having the resonator farther away from the muffler will give you a mellow, deep tone
Having it close to the muffler is pointless..

Instead of takin out the resonator you have,, why dont you work with it and add another 18 resonator behind it..

why is it pointless?
adding a 18 would be better than replacing with 22? can you have to many resonators? i already have the 17 and a cat remember

No..theres no such thing as to many resonators. they dont affect performance..
adding the 18" to the system would deepen the tone greatly..
The reason I mentioned that is because you said the existing resonator is welded to the cat so I was just tryin to make things easier for you..

If resonator is closer to the header then it will change the tone alot earlier in the system ..

This is where mine is located. I can't speak to the change in tone from one resonator location to another because mine is always loud as hell. However, depending on what size resonator you choose, you'll need to test fit it to see if it will go that far forward. This one is a 4" x 22" Magnaflow (2.5" ID).
