Default vtec still work with d15b7 dizzy?

sup guys. ive been reading up for the past 2 days and cant find a straight answer. im doing a d16y8 head on my 91 si (d16a6) IM reading that a lot of people are using 92-95 civic d15b7 distributor because it lines right up to the y8 head. will vtec still work even though that dizzy is from a non v motor?? ill be switching to obd1 if that helps. also what should I do about the resistor box???

also has anybody ever used a jdm d16b vtec dizzy on a y8 head?

the parts I have now are:
p28 ecu
obd0-obd1 ecu jumper harness
obd0-obd1 dizzy jumper harness
obd1 injectors
obd1 fuel pressure regulator
y8 head gasket
y8 timing belt
head studs

thanks everybody for input.

your B7 distributor will work just fine on the Y8 head - the distributor doesn't care if it is VTEC or not - on the Z6 head, you have to use the VTEC distributor, only because it is the only one that will bolt on, not because it is VTEC

Bad info.

The CYP "snail" is flipped 180 between the nonvtec and vtec distributors.
It does matter if you use a vtec or non-vtec distributor.
Code 9.
