Re: Tanabe Medalion touring exhausts (JickRames)
i have the prototype one that they used on my car to test fit on a USDM crx.
it was completely silent at first. then after about 3 months it started getting louder as the packing blew out or got coated or whatever. it wasnt that bad sounding actually, kinda low tone. but ppl said they could hear me coming, so i went back to stock. i want ZERO attention.
but it was the prototype and maybe just meant for taking measurements. so the real one might be different.

RSR Exmag > Tanabe Medallion Touring? Or the other way around? I think the RSR is quiter and looks sexy with the black powdercoat. But, they're all out of stock.

tnanks for the help tyson!
as far as i know the exhaust should be super quiet. The "test fitment only" sound theory is a possibility.
Personally I dont mind some attention, jsut as long as it doesnt sound bad

I personally own this exhaust on my 90 si with a b16 and it sounds really good. Just touring around town its really quite and then past 4k its starts getting louder and vtec barks pretty loud and deep....no ricey bullshit here.
Its not the prettiest xhaust out there, but it sounds great and makes real power.

just my input... if your looking for a nice sounding, not loud, and nice looking exhaust....i got a dynomax axle back for mine, yes its not a full deal but u can get the rest of that made for pretty cheap anymore, but i really like how it sounds and looks, its pretty much an oem design, but with two oval polished tail pipes... ill get some pics up here off mine soon

For those of you guys who daily drive their crx's I understand looking at these exhausts but I only take my car out on the weekends and the buddy club spec 2 is the rawest most agressive sounding exhaust you can buy. It also re-routes the exhaust exit on the other side of the car making the flow much more efficient than the original zigzag setup

Re: (CRX_DOHC_ZC)
dunno if you were asking about the Touring..
but i believe its 60mm piping with a 100mm tip. ill check the tanabe website or something to make sure.

I also was looking at this exhaust. I already e-mailed tanabe & about to e-mail rs-r as well. I liked the look & sound of the rs-r but I hear their packing wears out pretty quickly & becomes louder. The touring medalion I was impressed with the new advantex packing & their "claims" but the above statement from the guy who had a prototype didn't comfort me too well. Hopefully it was just a protoype thing that went wrong.
The rs-r uses lesser quality stainless which tends to rust quickly espicially around the welds. Tanabe seems to make very good quality products & does uses a better quality SS. BUT...I love the way the ex-mag looks on the cars i've seen & have seen in the past tanabe's look awkward on some cars. I've seen a lot of the tips stick out way past the bumper & I can't stand that but the above picture on the CRX looked pretty clean. I'm still confused! HEH...does anyone have the tanabe touring on a del sol yet? If so post pics or PM & e-mail me please!!!

I can vouch for RSR rusting around the welds. I'm gonna be going over all the welds on mine with Eastwood Rust Encapsulator, which should handle it.
