Swap jdm d15 VTEC or USDM d15 VTEC motor in 91 std.
What is the difference between the Jdm d15 sohc vtec and the usdm 92-95 d15 sohc vtec.
What is required to do this swap into a 91 civic hatchback std model.
Any pics or breakdown would be great

not sure on the exact specs *search the web*
92-95 is ODB1. So you have to convert your ODB0 system to ODB1 when ya do the swap. USDM is usually cheaper.
WHY on earth wouldn't you get a D16? or better yet, get a ODB0 SOHC or DOHC ZC engine from japan.

So if you want high mpg then go with a z1. I read somehwere that done right it can hit up to 69mpg.
If you want a peppy motor then go with the jdm d15b

you went from an ls to d15? youre ideas are all over the place man. Just put a vtec head on your d15b2, switch to mpfi, swap to obd1 and youll pretty much have a good engine for cheap. ive ran this setup and its kinda quick.

OP, take some time to read and try to understand what you are getting yourself into.
These cars are simple but for an inexperienced person its easy to get in over your head, especially when it comes to the mpfi swap.

referring to stock motors in our 88-91 civic crx models
Usdm d15 motor is a dpfi
usdm d16 motor is an mpfi non-vtec
obd1...I'm not real familiar with obd1 sohc motors as far as engine codes, but here goes:
D15b_ non vtec mpfi (someone fill in the blank #, I think it's a b7)
D15z1 sohc vtec-e (economy model motor found in a vx civic hb)
D15B jdm sohc vtec (compareable to our usdm D16Z6)
D16Z6 usdm sohc vtec (92-95 civic ex & si hb, 93-95 del sol si model)
Usdm d15 motor is a dpfi
usdm d16 motor is an mpfi non-vtec

Here is a link to a good read on the JDM D15B motor. I used to have the JDM D15B motor in my first CRX and it was a blast to drive back in 1996.
