steering wheel shakes under acceleration
heres my problem, just bought a new crx. i test drove the car with different wheels and there was no shaking, but when driving home from picking it up with different wheels, whenever accelerating, the steering wheel shakes. when i let off the gas, shaking stops completely. shaking is very bad under hard acceleration in access of 60mph. its lowered a lot if that helps. i dont know what to look for and already searched.
thanks for the help! im clueless!

i searched on here, havent found anyone else with just shaking under acceleration that was unbalanced wheels. is there anything else i could look at while removing the wheels?

tightened up the lugs, shaking stopped for about 30 mins then hit a bumpy road and it started again. i wonder if the lugs are just backing themselves out slowly

Re: steering wheel shakes under acceleration
I had the same problem because I'm an idiot and forgot to tighten my driver's side lugs enough. I re-tightened them and it stopped shaking, but then they came loose again. It turned out I had to get new studs because they were stripped.
I'm just happy my wheel didn't fall off. Make sure your lugs are tight again. Your studs could be stripped and your lug nuts could be getting loose again. It could be dangerous!

You probably need new tires.
Either you actually have a flat spot or you have a bubble and the tire is getting ready to go out on you.
I just replaced a tire with a bubble about a month ago.
At first the steering wheel shook like I needed an alignment and it gradually got worse.
Eventually the steering wheel was rotating a few degrees and back again at slow speeds.

Re: steering wheel shakes under acceleration
It shook all the time, but when just rolling the car forward I could tell the flat spot feel happened every single time the wheel did a full rotation.
Because it happened on every rotation it ruled out everything like ball joints and tie rods.
It was definitely a wheel issue.
I guess it could have been diagnosed as a bent rim as well, but it progressively got worse - obviously tire related.

mine shakes only under acceleration except when at highway speeds, then it shakes but very mildly. above 4k rpm in 3rd gear it shakes violently

Re: steering wheel shakes under acceleration
i had something similar to the problem you're having just a few days ago, turns out my car was too low and was causing axle bind =(. Would'nt hurt to raise it up a notch or so and see if it helps.

my car is slammed so that would explain it. the mounts are all hasports and are all good so that must be my issue, need to raise it i guess

Re: steering wheel shakes under acceleration
i had a shop noticed the camber on my front pass side wheel being more then the drivers side front, but theres no camber kit on it. he said the wheel seems loose so im thinking a wheel bearing? can a bad wheel bearing cause it to shake only under load?

Re: steering wheel shakes under acceleration
Put the front wheels in the air and grab the top and bottom (not the sides) of the wheel.
Push with one hand and pull with the other and try the rock the wheel back and forth.
It shouldn't budge.
Wheels bearings will cause vibration.
I'm sort of lost though.
You wrote that it ONLY happens under acceleration. So do you mean that it doesn't happen when you get up to speed (ANY speed) and put it in neutral?
