I have a '91 DX (EF hatch)
I recently shot my engine (piston rod) and need to replace it with a new one, however, so far I am only considering buying the block/head and leaving the remaining parts in for the new engine.
I was considering purchasing an 88-91 Si engine. Would that be interchangeable with the DX headers/intake/transmission ect..?

The POS is a daily driver and I don't want to put a whole lot of money in it, so don't give me these "H22!!!!" replies
if you can think of another engine that would fit in the DX bay with out any modifications, or any other suggestions please post them.

If you live near IL I have a Si engine that wants a shell. I think it's in my sig.

any d series will go right in without mods. So pick an engine and put it in.

I say go with the D16Z6. You can get them fairly cheap (300-500), and if you do ever come up with the money or desire to do anything to it, the parts and potential are plentiful. (Damn, that was some nice alliteration).

you will also need to convert to mpfi since you have a dx

dx has dual point fuel injection(dpfi), you need to convert to multi point (mpfi)

Get the 88-91 Civic/CRX Si engine (D16A6). your header and tranny will work and all other d series stuff you had.

and what is the z6? an early LS?
