Default Reviving faded bumpers and paint

I have a red 88 hb base with grey bumpers. I recently googled how to bring back the dark color of the plastic and found that a heat gun will get them back to black and keep them that way for a while. With nice dark bumpers, I want a nice red car but my clear coat is pretty much gone. lol Does anyone know a way to bring back my red paint?
Dont tell me to get it painted...

Try the Detailing section, you might get more responses there.

Although I think they will probably tell you the same thing, get it painted.

Since the clear coat is gone, if you dont want to do any painting, just use some sort of paint cleaner on an orbital buffer and try to bring a little bit of color out of the paint that way, if it works wax it afterwards for a TINY amount of protection.

If you want a little project and you're on a tight budget, you could also try using 1500-2000 grit sandpaper on the paint. Wet sand it just enough to get the topmost paint off. Just make sure not to go all the way down to the primer coat. Then get some rustoleum crystal clear coat (or another brand of your choice), and spray whatever needs to be coated. You'll probably have really bad orange peel, clear coat from a can is almost impossible to get right without any orange peel or running. So if you do get orange peel, wait till the paint is fully cured, wet sand just enough to smooth the clear coat without taking it back down to the paint, and then use some paint cleaner on an orbital buffer, followed by a wax coating.

I can't help you on your paint, but I used mother's back to black on all my exterior plastic, and was happy with the results. It was maybe five bucks, and I bought it at OReileys. Good luck!
