Removing bearing race from hub?
How do you remove the bearing race from a front hub?
I pressed the hub out of the wheel bearing/ knuckle assembly, but how do I remove the outer bearing race from the hub?
I tried heating the bearing race with ace/oxy and pried on it with no luck, didn't even budge. Also, after heating the hub it has turned a light blue color. Did I ruin the hub? As the heat may have tempered the metal? Are factory hubs hardened steel?

use a grinder! Make a diagonal "cut" accross the race, making sure not to grind anything else. And then once you have a pretty good groove get a chiesel and hit that sucker good until you see it has made the whole race crack. Then you can just tap it off!
Hope that makes sense!
Also use a vise.

Re: Removing bearing race from hub? (Surewin)
My dad was calling around trying to get some machine shop to press the bearings out of my rear hub and finally found a place locally that could do it for cheap. Only then did he find out that none of the parts stores or bearing stores had the bearings we needed. We ended up just getting hub assemblies from the junkyard yesterday.

try a bearing puller. has 2 or 3 claws, looking thing. you should be able to lock onto it and pull it out. ive had to do it before.
honestly tho, after sucessfully taking it off, and reusing the hub, both sides broke while racing, not fun, im lucky nothing else got damaged. apparently the fatigue was too much. eventho this was under racing conditions, i still recommend just replacing the hubs with new ones.

The machine shop that we were eventually going to go with was going to charge us $15-20 to remove and press in bearings.

Where did the hubs break? I assume they cracked, but where?

right at the base. thats the most stressed part by design, but happens to be where the inner race was stuck too... basically, when the hub fails, theres nothing keeping the entire wheel connected to the car, except for the caliper holding the rotor, which is the only thing that prevented my wheel from flying off.
