Project thread ::Turbo Dan:: Sir facelift - Glasstop - Roll bar
This is my build thread, starting with my Red 1988 DX CRX and after it was written off I got a new shell, TG 1990 CRX SI and swapped over a bunch of parts, did a full wrap in white, and swapped over the motor and turbo with extras.
Page 2 is:
the crash, the new shell, the full vinyl wrap, sir front end, rear seat install, extended wheel stud install etc
Page 3 is Turbo overhaul, new custom pipes and new rebuilt turbo
Page 4 and 5 is JDM Glasstop install
Page 7 is turbo oil drain, Koni/GC suspension install & Fender flare install
Page 8 is Odyssey battery install & rear strut bar
Page 9 is Roll bar install & tranny swap
Summer 2012 will hopefully be full suspension
Onto the build:
finally got my camera back, so i missed a bunch of steps in the process and pics, but here is my project.
what have i done so far?
i mounted a 1998 ITR non SRS steering wheel onto a crx momo hub, which is great because it require no modifcation to the turn signal cancel!
i was going to use my NRG quick release with the wheel, but that would extend the wheel too much, right now its the same length as a momo hub, nrg quick release and a momo apache wheel. because of the deep corn (?) of the wheel with the momo hub alone it is the same length as before.
which is not a problem at all, no real point in having a release on a stock wheel anyway.
anyway.... the main build is an sir front end conversion on my crx.
this past weekend i cut into my fenders to install the marker lights, i used the measurements from the how to found in this website.
hood is on, headlights are in. hood doesnt close perfect yet, still need to move the rad support out a slight amount. right now it latches but its not perfect yet, and i want it to be near perfect.
and tomorrow the bumper will be going on, the bumper is the real gem in this build, if you look at these pics and think wow, looks nice, you havent seen anything yet.
my car is not pink, its just the bad lighting and color correction.

Below is pictures of my first attempt at doing the itr wheel conversion.
if you want to see the second and 'better' attempt, click the link below
https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-crx-ef-civic-1988-1991-3/how-install-itr-wheel-my-way-2444253/
pic of the wheel after it arrived
2
my old wheel plus quick release plus new wheel ripped apart
the bolt holes on the ITR wheel are too small in diameter so i needed to dremel them to extend the holes out slightly as you can see from the pics
you can see the red markings on the momo hub, these holes i pre drilled because this is the correct bolt pattern for the ITR wheel, i later took it to a machine shop to have the holes threaded (5$)
this is a test fit of the wheel

its the same car, jeez
and yes, thnks for noticing the sideskirt fitment, usually when the fender and sideskirts are having half way off due to this being the middle of a project, these things happen/

here are a couple day pics
shitty camera
i had an appointment to bring in my front end for paint, but i got a job offer and had to relocate to take it. and since this is my daily driver i need it for work etc and i cannot have it sit at a paint shop for a week.
thanks for looking.
im having issues with fitment on my hood, there is a big gap on the driver side at the back, where the passenger side looks normal.
and i cant move the fender in to reduce the gap because then the fender doesnt line up with the door.
any ideas?
also, the hood isn't adjustable, it bolts in with holes just big enough for the bolt.
