Default O2 Sensor obd0 b16 PW0

Ok, i am having a hell of a time with my o2 sensors and turning to someone for help. I have 2 brand new o2 sensors, 4-2-1 header with the bungs welded to the stock locations, reading pairs 1 & 4, 2 & 3; they are wired to the correct pins on the ecu, and i continually receive ECU code 1, however never a code 2, even if i have them both disconnected. my question is, for the primary, it is supposed to be a shielded wire, while the secondary is also supposed to be, i am also running into issues with the CYP sensor, i have tried a brand new distributor, which i am told is also supposed to be a shielded wire. The shielding is only supposed to cut down on the electronic noise, if wired directly to the ECU, would that really cause a problem using a "normal" wire?!? I am trying another ECU this weekend, however, anything that i can try prior would be a great help.

Rewire both the 02 and the distributor wires directly. It's unlikely your ECU.


Just run four fresh wires to the o2 sensor through the firewall with this pinout.

A13 [o2 blk(under green)
A6 [o2 blk(under white)
C16 [splce 4 o2 white]
C12 [splce 4 o2 green]



Run these 6 wires together to the distributor bypassing the original engine harness.

b10-orange-crank sensor
b12-white-crank sensor
c1-blue/grn-CPS
c2-Blue yellow-CPS
c3- Orng/Blue- TDC
c4- White/blue- TDC

If you have the motivation, you can rip some 6-in-1 shielded wire from an EG harness and run the ground to A16 and A18 just to be safe. Regular automotive wire has worked for alot of people though.

I am pretty sure this will solve at least one of you problems.

Jwbetley has assumed you are OBD1 and using a 4 wire O2 sensor, but you say you are OBD0 which runs (2) single wire O2 sensors.

His idea to run your own your own wire directly from the ECU to each O2 sensor is a good idea to test if the wiring is your problem. Normal 14 gage wire should be fine.

Assuming one O2 sensor is tripping the CEL and the other one is fine, You could try to switch the pin locations at the ECU and see if you get code 2 instead of code 1.

i have tried switching the wires, however the code does not switch. I will rewire the primary directly and see what happens and keep you guys updated, thanks for the help.

As for the CYP, i have wired that directly from the ECU, the shell when i bought it had a b16a in it previously. I had to add wires for the CYP since prior owner did not have it hooked up at all, i am assuming this because the wires were cut at those pin locations.
