Default Motor Identification? Help please

I recently bought a parts car(CRX si '90) which has in it a D15za crate motor. is there any way for me to tell whether it is smog legal or not? (ie: made for U.S. vehicles? newer than the destination vehicle(my '90 CRX dx)?)

My dx has quite a bit less damage to the body and suspension than the si does so i'm pulling the motor and swapping, i just need to know what year the motor is and what its original destination was.
the numbers on the block are
D15ZA

Not aware of any such engine.

D15Z1... maybe?

It would be out of a Civic VX.

The guy i bought the car from said it had a ZC in it then, for some reason that I didn't hear, he swapped this other one in and broke it in for 3000 miles then put a turbo on it for another 500 with 5psi boost which is how it is right now. Along with many other upgrades that would probably fill up this post just listing. Runs perfect though, i had my mechanic check it out. You can hear the turbo sucking in an incredible amount of air which i'd never heard before when you step on it around 4k rpm(then again i've never driven a turbocharged car).

Yes it is a D15Z1, poor penmanship on my part on my own hand. lol
would a japanese(meant for japanese vehicle) motor have a different stamp?

And, how would i figure out the year of the motor.
