Let me see if I have it right (questions on ef parts/motor swapping)
I have A) d16z6 from 94 ex with harness ECU, etc.
B) Whole running 88 hf crx with a slightly blown headgasket (runs and drives)
C) Running, straight, clean 89 dx crx with bad rings (runs but blows smoke bad)
From my searching on this site I can:
Put the d16z6 in the HF but I need the DX hubs because the 88 HF hubs are different then the 89 and subsequently the d16z6. Also I will put the 89 dx transmission on the d16z6 when it goes in the HF. The 94 ex axles will go in the 89 dx transmission and mate to the 89 hubs. The ex harness and ECU will make this swap work.
The 89 dx will get the HF hubs, the HF shortblock and transmission. The HF axles will mate to the tranny and hubs as they were in the HF. A brandnew dx headgasket will go inbetween the dx head and the hf shortblock.
All this work will result in my 88 HF having a d16z6 for the Grassroots Motorsports 2005$ challenge and the 89 dx getting the HF shortblock and transmission. It will retain the dual point injection system and should get really great gas mileage even if it might be slightly anemic on the power side. Is this question completely illogical. Was the information I was reading by searching honda-tech erronious. What other combinations make more sense. Help me out here guys...
Also what clutch would be reccomended for a super-budget setup on the d16z6 with 89 dx transmission. You run the 89 clutch or is the clutch the same between the 89 and 94?
