I was wondering if anyone knew the exact amount of gas (in gallons) can a 1990 CRX Si gas tank hold?

I've been told Si/Dx can hold up to 11.9 gallons but I wasnt that sure. I usually pump a little over 8 gallons of gas everytime my car is low on gas. (or when the needle is all the way down to the E) That's almost a 4 gallon difference. Can somebody clarify this for me? Thanks.

my manual says 9.9 for my 91 dx. The other day when i ran it real low like 30 miles after it went to E, i put it in like almost ten gallons, so it might hold more than 9.9.

even if you dont put 12 gallons the needle on the gauge might go up just as much..but gas goes down a lot faster than an actual full tank

I heard that HF had an 8 gallon tank and I'm pretty sure all the other CRXs and Civics had an 11.9 gallon tank. I know for sure my 89 Civic DX is an 11.9.

And the fuel gauges on our cars suck. Mine is on E when I have at least 4 gallons left in the tank.

11.9 right? so i assume it would be safe to drive my car about 50+ more miles before i fill it. i dont know. maybe i'm scared because the crx doesnt have a gas light to indicate the car is low on gas. i'll try it out and see what's up.

I ran out of gas down the road from a gas station one time........I remember I got charged for 11.7 gallons. So 11.9 sounds about right, don't know about HF's

most I've ever filled up with is 10.6.......I really wish the EFs had low fuel lights tho so I can get the most out of a tankfull....

I don't see why it's so great to push it to the limit. Just fill up when needed.

I agree... why make your engine starve? I usually pump 7-8 gallons to fill up. Not that i'm scared to push the limit, but why wait to pump and starve the engine....just my two cents.

Exactly!! If its on "E" put gas in it!! sure you can go a little bit longer when its on E thats how all cars are its like the "reserve" if you want to call it. That way you dont have people that get down to E and then just run out of gas.

Hf 10.6 gal.
I do believe when the needle hits the red on the gauge that means you have 1.5 gal. left EXACTLY. So if you get 20 mpg that means you have appox. 30 miles to get to a gas station before you are branded DUMBASS LOL

And another thing you don't want to run a pressurized system dry you could cause vaporlock and you wouldn't want that now would you?
It's a PITA to get the system primed again.

Yeah, but it aint easy. I checked into it, then I found out you have to drop the fuel tank and change the sending unit.

Damn, that sucks. I bet there might be an easier way but who knows?

I always suggest people to fill up at 1/4 tank b/c when you get lower than that you will be running any sedimants that have been left in teh gas tank.

Mines about 4 gallons, but the 1.5 may be how it was designed from the factory, either that or they just like to **** with us.

except that the pickup is near the bottom of the tank anyway, so its always drawing from there... how do you think it continues to draw gas when there's very little left?

the reason not to run down on gas is a dry running fuel pump will overheat itself, especially in submerged systems. also, to provide a fudge factor in case the next station isnt quite as close as you had anticipated...

I understand that the pick up is at the bottom, but w/ less liquid to dilute any particles, it will all gather w/ the last 1/4 tank. Similar to a bunch of kool aid in the bottom of the pitcher

my gas was on red for a couple of days and i drove to lunch and home after school and around the town and i never ran out of gas

the easy fix would be to pull off the needle and place it back on pointing a little higher. you will have to make the hole in the face round though so that the needle can move more. then when you fill up, it will be way past the full point and you'll feel like you got more gas than you were supposed to...or something...

I have NEVER gotten the cahnce to put in more that 9.somthing gallons in my car. The tank is about 10.6 gallons, but I will starve for fuel going around a corner with wnything less than 2 gallons in the tank. Oh and my gas gauge is broken

you gutta remember, our cars are 12-15 years old..a lot of stuff set at the factory has worn down throughout the years and our gas gauges aren't going to be exactly correct anymore. I've seen this in most of the older cars I've owned. They've all either seemed to fill up like an extra 1/4 over the fill line, and like my 90 CRX Si it never even get's to the fill line, even if I spill, and it will run with the needle under E if I'm being extra lazy and don't wanna stop for gas. I've driven 30-60 miles with the needle under E before..but like I said, my gauge is obviously off because even after putting in 10 gallons and spilling some I still don't hit the fill line.

LOL! I almost screwed myself an hour ago, my gauge was a little over the red... and my car started to cut out on me... so I went to get gas and now its fine.

340miles this tank on a 221 thousand mile LX 4 door... that was running on 3 cylinders for most of the tank.

My god I love this car.
