get another one from the dealership and replace it. Take off the front bumper and release the latch.

unscrew the turn signals on the bumper, take out the two screws on each end of the bumper in front of the front tires. Take a 14mm socket and unbolt the bumper support from the frame. Pull the bumper off.

where did it break? The cable runs through the driver side wheel well. If you take the plastic splash guard out of the wheel well, you can see the cable. if the break is upstream, then you can cut the casing off the wire and grab the wire with some vice grips. then replace it.

additionally, between the front crossmember and the bumper cover there is another point where you can usually see the cable, so you might be able to get some vice grips in through there, but sometimes the ac condenser is in the way.

bumper removal would be more work, so i would try the wheel well option first if you have some idea where the break is, then going in through the front bumper, and then taking the bumper off as a last resort.

There's many ways he can take it off. Heck he can undue the two 10 or 12 mm bolts under the bumper attached to the splash guard and pull the bumper back far enough and take a long flathead screwdriver and unscrew the locking pin if he wanted to. I gave him the option that he is gonna have to do anyway if he is going to replace the cable. You can run the new cable through any hole in the firewall that you want to, but you will still need to take off the front bumper to attach the cable to the locking mechanism.

either way both things have to come off,the wheel well cover and front bumper to replace the cable.

bumper doesn't need to come off to replace the cable...if cable is snapped cut it and expose the wire cable inside the black casing and pull on wire with some pliers and the hood will open from the driverside wheel well.

as for putting in the new cable just remove the t-bar and wiggle the new cable under the headlights through the wheel well into the cabin.

this is a little trick in learn on my car..
if u go behind the middle bar of the radiator support (if u can get behind the front bumper that is) their is a little switch sorta connected to the latch mechanism..
and its on the left side behind the bar it will take time and u will feel it... once u find it push the hood down and push onto the lever it will unlock the hood...

I meant replacing it properly, using the clips still. If you remove the T-bar your gonna have to get on the ground to get the bottom bolt and if you still have the splash guards under there. It's just gonna take the same amount of time, taking the bumper off.So why half *** it,when you can do it properly in the same amount of time?

so you take off the entire bumber just to save a clip not as half *** as you make it seem and one 10mm bolt on the bottom of the t-bar is a lot faster than taking off a entire front bumper...btw the splash guard doesn't have anything to do with removing the t-bar

i could just fit a ratchet in the vent hole in the front of the bumper, and unbolt that one bolt. it's how i replaced my t-bar once upon a time... saved me taking off the bumper...

why do you guys act like taking off a bumper is the hardest thing ever? it only takes 5 mins.you still gotta take off the splash guards in the wheel well if he has any ,and why wrestle with a cable to open the hood?

splash guard is on mine too
the only gay thing about removing the bumper is that the screws are half of the time real hard to unscrew with a right philip and it will even strip easily....
