Default high idle and timing belt noise

I just put in a d16z6 into my ef. the car runs but i am having some problems. my first problem is that its idling high it starts at 2000rpm and just keeps going up and the way i can control the idling is by plugging the hole where the pvc hose plugs in on the intake manifold. the second problem is that the timing belt makes a noise when the engine is running now i have noticed that my tensioner does not have a spring and when i tighten the belt the back part of the belt does not get thight like the rest of the timing belt. Can you guys help me out please?

wow, plug that hole then drrrr

only one side of the belt will be super tight and thats the side facing the front. the other keeps a TINY bit of slack

well if i completely plug the hole the car will not turn on and if it does turn on it will only run for a few seconds. the timing belt is loose on the part that is towards the front of the car and on the other side it is pretty tight so basically it hits the motor mount when it is running since it is just flapping around.

You need to get a spring as thats what keep tension on the pulley so it is not loose like that and it will skip a tooth or break from hitting the mount.

It's more than likely a vaccum issue that is why the idle is so high. Does the car have a PCV valve? If not, you may want to hook one up as thats the vent for the excess air from the crankcase.

ok so getting a new spring and tensioner will fix that problem?

as far as the vaccuum problem goes i bought a new pcv and put it in and it still does that even with the pcv. What else could it be?

if the pcv line is hooked up properly to the crankcase ventilation box below the intake manifold then your high idle should be gone. check the entire line all the way down to the pcv box and make sure its not cracked or broken off entirely. for the meantime i would just plug up the pcv port at the intake so you can atleast try to address the other problems. as far as your timing belts concerned, a new spring and tensioner should fix the problem. if you get it tightened properly there shouldnt be much slack in either side of the belt. tighten the tensioner down in its loosest position and then pop in the new spring. now install the belt and get everything in time. once thats done turn the crank ccw very slow until the slack from the front of the belt is removed, but not so much that you actually turn the cam gear. after that simply loosen the tensioner bolt and the spring will pull the slack out of the belt. retighten the tensioner bolt and then there ya go.
