fuel problems
working on my friends d16a6...
basically the engine turns over and starts, then after a second of running it cuts off. so we changed the fuel filter, and no progress. we changed the fuel pressure regulator, and now it runs for about 30 seconds then cuts off. whats weird is, when we step on the gas, the car immediately starts bogging and cuts off. i tried starting the car with the throttle open a little bit, and the engine started bucking and it sounded like it was misfiring and detonating.
what could it be? what should i try next?

Re: fuel problems (Mr. S)
so its either the fuel pump or ECU? which one could it be for sure, because both are expensive parts...
why would the car run if the pump is messed up? would that rule the fuel pump out? does the car usually run erratic if the ECU is fried?
thanks again

Re: fuel problems (rasta420)
You sure you changed the ECU and it isn't a DX pm5. That would cause the same effect. Check all vaccuum lines also, if some are confused it will throw codes and the car could run like real ****.
