my buddy had a no start problem, and i wasn't getting any power to my fuel pump, i put some power to it and now it starts but the fuel gauge doesn't work, i checked the wires at the plug in to the pump and sending unit and i was only getting 6 volts(which i figure is about right because the sending unit is only as resistor, and he has about a half tank) but the gauge just isn't working, any suggestions?

it's a 91 std

where are you checking for voltage at? check it at the back of the cluster. it could aslo be the sending unit or it could be stuck.
