Finally, some real cup holders for the EF

They actually don't completely block the vents. You can reach the vent easily to open/close them even with the large cup in there.
That was kind of a calculated lesser of two evils though. The driver and passenger vents don't hardly blow worth a crap anyway, the vents aren't completely blocked, and it's not like there will ALWAYS be drinks in the way. It was either give up ergonomics or lose some vent flow.
I've noticed tons of new cars have cupholders right in front of vents so I figured mine can't be too bad :p
I built them! They bolt onto the door

Look kind of chintzy... could make a nice fiberglass pod that would bolt to the door and wrap in in vinyl to match your door panels...
Way to get creative with limited resources..

My initial iteration of these actually were more sophisticated/bulky. I actually worked them down to this minimalist/less obtrusive version that bolts to the mirror mounting points and is "slim" in following the shape of the door panel down to the actual cupholders.
I guess I should be clear in that the actual "buckets" of the cup holders are store bought.
My "final" product will be fiberglass though and I've got several molds curing as we speak. It won't be bolting to my door panel or anything like that though. I don't want anything permant on the door panel which is why I made these bolt on/off
Cupholders can be inspiring? News to me

uninspiring as in like "Hey guys, i went into the parts store and bought a $2.99 cupholder next to the air fresheners. I really wanted to let you all know. heres a pic!"

I went for a cup holder bucket that was most versatile in terms of holding many cup sizes. The Taurus, Sentra, and Integra cup holders really don't securely hold anything much larger than a soda can or a bottle of water. Either way, the physical bucket itself is store-bought, yes, but the rest isn't. It took some work to fab them up where I wanted without being permanent on the door panel, they're very sturdy, will securely hold a full 44 oz. drink, and add a dimension of usefulness I've been missing in my EF.
Anyway, hopefully my next project will be more inspiring and imaginative. You know, like finding some fogs from a different car that seem to marginally fit the CRX bumper and fudging them in there.

Prelude fogs
It sucks having to sandwich my drinks between the seat and e-brake and hope I don't have to hit the brakes, which would send it flying toward the shifter. This thread INSPIRED ME to get off my *** and do something about some damn cup holders

yo screw the haters, send me a pm for a PRICE for 2! ill take them just like that, simple and functional.
I personally hate having drinks in front of where i shift (limited space as is already) and these are perfect and easily removable.

Damn! a 44oz-er! You know... American cars kinda introduced cupholders to the world because we take our "driving experience" to different dimensions... Euro cars = no cup holders cause driving is more of a passion thing... not a living space we have created. My CRX... WILL HAVE NO CUPHOLDERS.... thinking of eliminating the radio too! The turbo spool and blow off will be my entertainment and 2 hands will be required for driving. This thread rocks! FTW!!!!!

Re: Finally, some real cup holders for the EF
yea well my car being a DD and seeing 40 miles everyday, not to mention the events and meets i attend i like to have something to drink, and im sick of everything rolling under neath my damn del sol seats to where i cant reach it unless i get out of the car and fish around from behind. the position of where he has them is perfect, and hes right that a/c vent doesnt do much, and im also not going to have a drink in it all the time to where it effects it that much.
like i said, i want 2, and just they way you have it pictured, i dont want anything fancy, just practical.
and for the record i drink out of bottles too, and with my sol seats, my e-brake is an insufficient location.
itll make my passengers (AKA MY GIRLFRIEND) happy to have a cup holder in my car as well.

Re: Finally, some real cup holders for the EF
this reminds me of the cheap cup holders you could buy at the ampm or a gas station. those really didn't work either. These one's look like you should get ron popeel or billy mays to help you sell to EF owner! good job
