Engine suddenly won't start
Just Happened. 89 Civic 1.6. Turns over but will not start. Checked for fuel pressure and was good. Then checked each wire for spark and got spark, although the spark it seemed intermitent. I wonder if this is a modulator problem in the dist? Cause I changed the modulator many years ago when I had this same problem.
Anything else might it be?
Thanks

Re: Engine suddenly won't start
Sounds like your car is turning over with the starter. Let's check the main relay. Above your hood latch, under the dash is the relay. Reach under there and touch the what while turning your ignition key to the on position. Don't go all the way to the crank position . When you first turn the key, you should feel the relay click once then again a second or two later. If you don't get that second click, you need a new main relay.
If your main relay isn't bad, get back to us.

Re: Engine suddenly won't start
Thanks all for replying,
I just decided to replace the distributor, cap and rotor today I picked up from Orielys and all is fine. Total about $200.
One thing to note, even if you get spark when cranking, the coil might be too weak to start the engine.
Thank again
