ef ac questions
So I got a 88 ed3 came with at but like most they didn't have any freeon I'm just gonna convert the system to r134a because luckily at my work we got the ac machine the question is how much lbs would it take now since its r134 also what were the old r12 lbs

You need to change the expansion valve and receiver/drier and all of the o-rings before converting to r134a. If the system is completely empty you will need to add about 4 ounces of Ester oil and about 28oz of refrigerant (r134a).

Another word of advice. You should replace the reciever/drier also. It has a desicant that absorbs moisture in the system. Once moisture is absorbed it is not released. It only takes 45 minutes of exposure to the atmosphere to saturate this desicant rendering it useless. Moisture in the system can cause freeze ups of the expansion valve and blockages.
