I suggest replacing the stock 13/16ths brake master cylinder with a 1991 Civic EX 15/16ths brake master cylinder. It's larger, and a direct bolt-on. I've *heard rumors* that 1990 Prelude master cylinders are also 15/16ths and bolt up to the Civic booster, but I am not sure.
I know for a fact 1991 EX 15/16ths master cylinders are a direct bolt on.

Re: What about MC (B18C5-EH2)
I just wanted to post up to confirm 14" steel rims will work with this, at least the rims I used.
I took the 14" steelies from my 1995 Civic EX Coupe (14x5, probably 35mm offset), Accord wagon calipers with 0.127" shaved off the 23T brackets, and everything clears on the LX knuckles/spindles. Not by much, but it cleared (didn't even scrape off the winter sand & dirt).
As for the rotors: the only thing I have to do is make a hubcentric spacer, since my hub is 61mm and the EG 10.2" rotors I have have 64mm holes - this has nothing to do with the rims. Just make sure you guys use 90-91 EX rotors for the right hub size.
If I was to do a 'racecar' setup, I'd probably spend a bit more for 94-95 Legend LS 2-piston calipers. From what BrakeExpert says, its basicly the same as the accord wagon/itr swap, except you need a small spacer somewhere. Then you get the larger rotors with 42/38mm pistons vs one 57mm piston.

Re: What about MC (HiProfile)
Proof:
14" steelies, 10.3" rotors, ITR calipers on a DX knuckle.
If you need a rotor centering ring, PM me, I have T6061 aluminum rings - 61.5mm to 64.1mm to center these. FYI, on my 96 civic LX knuckles, the 90-01 Integra rotors bolted right no, no rings needed because the rotor retainer screws (phillips) fit in and centers the rotor. I used milled brackets. If you use a wheel spacer, you will want centering rings as the screws may not be long enough to work.
PM me if you need parts and/or machine work for this setup.

If im using Si Knuckles with the typer calipers and 91EX rotors, will an EX dust shield fit onto my knuckle??
Whats needed to fit GSR calipers onto a 91 crx si knuckle?

Stock 14" mags (Crx Si) won't fit, only 14" steelies. Caliper rubbing on mags. Not sure if you grind off some metal from the caliper will clear enough.

ok, ive been following this for a long time. and i just went back and read the last 5 or 6 pages. just wondering what i can do w/ my ex front brakes on my hatch...i know fast brakes sells a kit that you can use the vw corrado, i think 11 inch, rotors. but im trying to find if i can get bigger rotors and use either itr or legend calipers?
edit: i didnt mean bigger than 11 inch, just mean bigger than the stock ex. OR which better calipers can i put on ex knuckles.

If you have ex knuckles I suggest you upgrade. anything bigger then 10.2 I think is over kill. you are already increasing weight each side..I have ex front with booster, prop valve, master cylinder rear is stock drum. brake is very well balanced similar to my old setup but I can brake much later now because I guess more clamping force..? Actually with my si hubs I was running vx 13" wheels felt lot faster because of weight savings.. I guess you sacrifice with upgrade..

This is an awsome write up bro, I think I may go this route when I'm ready to upgrade the brakes, again. lol.

I like this upgrade but I'm not so sure about having to grind down pads everytime I replace them. Still great job figuring all this out. I may yet do this when I do my rear disk conversion.

i have been reading and reading about this. i am sure this has been asked but the info i am reading is conflicting. With the Si knuckles that i am planning to use, along with the legend calipers and mounts (that need to be milled down about 3mm) i can run 10.3" or 11" rotors? please help, lol

Re: The easiest brake upgrade you NEVER knew about. Details inside!
Just posting to say that i just finished mounting this brake setup and had to grind a great deal out of the inside of the caliper to prevent it from contacting the brake rotor. I've also ground the inside of the pad base down to the pad and it's still contacting slightly.
Haven't taken it for a drive yet, but i'm expecting to have to grind more stuff down.
Also, is anyone running the metal spring bracket that seats the pads properly? i had to remove the top one (it would grind against the rotor and push the pad into the hub).
