Driver Side Motor Mount crooked after motor swap
D16Z6 and 1989 CRX Cable Trans swapped into...
1990 Civic DX that USED to be an automatic.
After the swap, the driver's side mount sits at a forward angle. The angle is like the motor is being pushed up under the intake manifold. So...
l / /l
(Rear l / /l Front of car )
(the "/ /" is the motor mount inside the mount point)
Passenger side mount and bracket: Used mount from the 1989 CRX manual trans
Front Mount: New. Although before I installed the front mount it was already leaning forward
Rear Mount: New for a 1990 manual trans, and the bracket came off the 89CRX trans
Driver's Side mount: I re-used the mount and bracket from the old stock motor (D15B2?) which had the automatic transmission
I adjusted the front mount as far up as possible but it didn't change it to any noticable degree. The car drives fine (I think). No grossly obvious vibrations or slamming noises during driving.
What can I do to correct this angled mount?

is the rear mount in the right location? there are 2 sets of holes on the rear crossmember - the mount for the automatic goes in the holes closest to the driver's side - the manual mount goes in the holes closest to the passenger side

Yes, the rear mount is for the manual transmission, and was installed in the correct holes... there is only one way to mount it, and it would not have fit if done otherwise. Still looking for a solution...

Re: Driver Side Motor Mount crooked after motor swap
did you also use the bracket that wraps around the motor on the Driver side. there should be 3 pieces in total if i remember right.
#1 the mount itself
#2 the part the mount bolts on to
#3 the part that bolts to #2 and bolts on the front side of the motor.
correct me if i am wrong, but you need all these parts for the motor to sit right.

Re: Driver Side Motor Mount crooked after motor swap
On the driver's side:
I used the bracket and the mount from the old motor (the D15B2 I think?). The bracket is the one that bolts to the motor underneath the timing cover with two bolts, and attatches to the motor mount with two other bolts.
I am leaning towards the idea that I should have used the bracket and motor mount from the D16Z6. Does the motor mount from the D16Z6 fit into the mount point of the 1990 Civic?
I need to take some pictures, or talk to anyone who has done a Z6 swap into an ED civic...

Re: Driver Side Motor Mount crooked after motor swap
if the car was auto you need to check the pass. trans mount. most of the auto bolt holes for the bolt that goes throuh the rubber are about 1 inch higher than manuals. (need to drill new hole 1 inch lower on your welded mount on pass side) also you have to use the timing belt mount from the original motor as well. the one that bolts inside the timing belt cover with the 2 14mm bolts. this should aleviate the problem.
