Dome Light Stays On

Dome Light Stays On
Hey guys I got a new crx and it has a problem my old one never had. The dome light will not go off with the doors shut. I hoped it was the switch so I swapped the one out of my old crx and it still does it. Some where there is a ground besides the door switches.
The 'door ajar' light works find in the dash but the one above the rear view mirror doesn't do anything.
Please help

Re: Dome Light Stays On
pull door switches off.
(unscrew screw)
unplug harness (one wire)
take either scotch brite pad or steel wool get rid of all the rust and corrosion on switch.
install in reverse order.
Basically light only comes on when ground circuit is closed.

Re: Dome Light Stays On
good advice. make sure youre looking at both driver and passenger switches.
the dome light circuit is really really simple, cant be too hard to diagnose.
in the wildest imagination, you could have clipped insulation in the wiring harness and grounding wires to body, but that doesnt happen randomly.
here's an upgrade:

I agree its a very simple ciruit. 12 volts to the switch in the roof through the bulb and grounded by the doors. The problem is that with the door shut it stays on. With the door switches unplugged it stays on.
Does that mean it is grounded in the roof?

Re: Dome Light Stays On
the screw that retains the domelight fixture into the roof is a ground path, when you turn the switch to (constant) "on" instead of "door".
did you ever take the domelight out and look at the backside of the switch? its pretty apparent when you take it out.
does it stay on with the keys out of ignition too, constantly draining your battery?
