dizzy issue
ok so i had this b16 that im swapping into my car and everythings going relatively smoothly, and i realized im pretty f'ed on my distributor. the motor i bought didnt come with a dizzy or anything else it was a bare block. so i sourced alot of integra parts for it thinking b-series to b-series. i knew id run into issues it not being a vtec distributor and that my motor is obd0 so the right obd distributor would be hard to get. i was told that you could just snap off a piece in the cap on the b18 distributor to make it work with b16's. when i tried putting the dizzy in the bolt parrterns arent the same, my old d-series distributor lines up better than the b-series. what are my options for distributors? can you make the ls dizzy work or do i have to source a obd0 b16 dizzy. would it be easier at this point to just convert to obd1?
PS.
i just dropped the ls dizzy and broke the cap...awesome

Re: (shrug)
You need the b17 obd 0 distributer that came on the early gsr. That's the one you can cut the leg and it will work. Try autozone or kragens. It will come remanufactured with a warranty but will cost $150.
That's your best bet if you cant find an obd0 b16 distributor.
I am not too sure bout the ls distributor working but if it isn't lining up flip the little shaft around. It is made so you can't put in on 180 degrees off.

if he was gonna buy a new dizzy then why not buy the right one, dont tell him to go get a 1.7 GSR dizzy that might fit. the right dizzy is the td22u, just search it on ebay or here is the link http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...ZWDVW

Re: (dbiker207)
92-93 GSR is a OBD1 dizzy, should fit but you will need to rewire it or use a conversion plug, LS should fit with the leg trimmed sounds like you got ripped off...or you cut the wrong leg off....

i didnt cut any legs off yet, because up until now i didnt know what to cut. the d series dizzy bolt patterns line up better than my supposed b series dizzy. buying the right distributor is all well and good and id do it but i have zero dollars, so i need to make due with what i have.

Re: (shrug)
if your car was an si you can use the stock si dizzy 2 bolts line up cut the third off. the only disadvantage is you cant get a full 16 degrees . I used my stock with the leg cut off when my b16 dizzy bearings went till I got another. I think I was only ablt to get 14 degrees barely noticable, I didnt go so far but maybe you can grind the slots farther on the si dizzy to get the timing right. but it does work fine
