Re: D15B1 vs. D15B2
YES! do the mpfi conversion + cams OR swap the whole engine for a better d-series (this will include wiring the MPFI anyways)
Don't change the tranny unless you're swapping the engine too, it ain't worth pulling that **** out and putting it back in just to get shorter gears. If you're gonna swap the engine, trash that 4-speed.

What everyone is saying is to upgrade anything firts is to do a MPFI swap.
that will increase the enjoyment of your d15 RIGHT NOW, not to mention it HAS TO BE DONE ANYWAY. for the future of any motor your gonna swap gotta get rid of the shitty DPFI first and swap to MP. so after that either put a vtec head on your d15 or swap in a d16a6 with 5 speed from a 91 si or go either SOHC ZC or DOHC ZC !

Re: D15B1 vs. D15B2
Im in the same boat i have a d15b2 right now. havent switched from DP to MP yet but plan on it soon. Then im trying to figure out which motor and transmission combo will go straight in. not much wiring im not a guru. I want a straight swap. what im getting is that its easiest to find a d16a6 and the 5speed trans from a 91 si. next easiest is to do a DOHC ZC swap or a SOHC ZC swap. are the ZC's as esy to drop and ride or is there more to any of this. someone please break it down, im confused too, and yes I have SEARCHED ! thanks guys.

The d series for me was great. I had the D15b1 with mpfi and a 5 speed. It got 37mpg with me ripping 0 to 75 almost every time I got on the highway.
4. Steps to get a D15b1 faster. from cheapest to most expensive.
1. Open up the d shaped thing and remove the metal plate, screen, and egg shaped throttle thing.
2. Buy an ebay header. Its the cheapest power you can get.
3. Do a 5 speed transmission swap
3. $$$ do a multi point fuel injection swap for cheap , or another d series engine swap.

Re: D15B1 vs. D15B2
So many questions from lots of people here and there are lots of answers to them all.
I have swapped D15s from most civics/CRXs with others even put a D15b1 into a 95 civic LX coz that was the only running engine I had to get a buddy back on the road to get to work.
There are many ways to get more power but it is most cost effective to do things once instead of doing many things many times.
In my opinion the best option is a DOHC ZC for the 88-91 platform or a D16A6 which ever you can find the best price on,dump the 4spd tranny and go 5spd.it is a bolt in swap with not much wiring to convert so it the most economical way to go.

Re: D15B1 vs. D15B2
i did the multiport swap on my 90 dx rex...i used a z6 manifold, si injectors, gsr throttle body, z6 fuel rail and running the pm6......along with the si tranny, stg 2 clutch lightweight flywheel, header, exhaust and cai...it gets movin pretty damn good, i can blow away zc swapped cars, and hang with b series cars pretty good, im planning on doin an a6 cam next..plus its super low miles for a b2

Re: D15B1 vs. D15B2
You might have to run some wires to your radiator fan switch depending on if they are in different places or not, had that issue with the b7 in my car
Should just plug up and go
pm5 is much better than crappy pm9
cant wait to go mpfi
gonna wire it all up next week i think

Or you can find an Si complete manifold or lots of other options to get there.
I was just giving my opinion of the easiest way to go about things it is not the only way.

Re: D15B1 vs. D15B2
I have a D15B2 motor in my 91 CRX and it's decent the only thing I would say is if you're trying to get horsepower out of it it's going to cost you more than it's worth honestly. There are ways to get performance out of it but again you're better off going with a swap. It might actually be cheaper and also if you're capable of doing it yourself then you can save even more the money. Either way good luck!

Re: D15B1 vs. D15B2 (johnclaunch)
I'm not trying to be an ******* or anything, but why the hell would you even boter wasting the time on that slow **** when you can just get a zc and a dx tranny? but for the info, dx has 16v head, different ecu, intake manifold/wiring (mp vs. dp), tranny. If you want, i can sell you my stuff.
