CRX with ls vtec wont rev past 3000 rpm
ok before everyone flames me about the search bar i have spent over 2 hours searching on honda-tech as well as several other forums and have not found the same scenario as me.
anyways, i just got my rex started today with my new fully built all motor ls vtec and took it for a spin to break it in and found out that mycar wont rev past 3000 rpms. the idle is stable. the ecu im using is a xenocron chipped pr3 ecu. the check engine light is on. i took the kick plate off and looked to see what code its showing and the light is not blinking at all. i checked to make sure the TPS and the MAP plugs are not switched. i just cant figure out how to find out what the problem is without my ecu light not blinking codes.

Sounds like you are in limp mode. Maybe your ecu LED is bad if the light is not blinking? I would double check all your connections if you cant see the codes

Simple test. If it's a chipped PR3 that's throwing a solid CEL and won't rev over 3k, plug in the stock ECU (assuming DPFI) and fire it up, it will most likely run like poo, but it should not throw a CEL and should allow you to rev over 3k (at idle, no need to go driving).
Solid CEL means the chip is bad, the ECU is bad, or the chip isn't getting a good connection or has an intermittent connection to the ECU, or your wiring is bad. You shouldn't even need to start the car to test this. If it's a solid CEL it will not rev over 3k regardless.

DO IT ON ALL FOURS

^^^ While this is true it isn't 100% definitive. There can be more problems than just that to cause a Solid CEL. I dug up the post that has multiple explanations of this (see the links I posted within the thread).
