Default clutch cable problems

i installed a new clutch cable on my b16 (Y1 w/ exedy). at first it felt good, nice and soft and good engagement. after driving it for about a half hour it was starting to get hard to put into first and after a couple more stop signs i couldn't get it in gear at all so i tightened up the screw thingy and then i could put it in first (and all other gears) but the pressure on the pedal was really stiff. its almost like its too tight but if i loosen it then it won't disengage. did i install it wrong? also i notice that the cable is touching the lower radiator hose, could it be heating up the cable and causing it to expand or do i just not have it hooked up right? please help

ok so i took the cable out and put it back in. i took the car out for a drive for the first 20 minutes it drove good but then after about 25-30 minutes of stop go driveing it started to get hard to put into first and when i got home at the end of my 30 minute ride i couldn't get it in gear at all and i tried to put it into reverse and all it did was grind. what is wrong with it?

the only things i can think of is that it moves slightly against the firewall so maybe it move some how, but i don't think this is the case. the other thing it that the cable is touching the lower radiator hose so maybe it is heating up the cable and causeing it to expand?

before you try to put it in 1st, let your clutch out then push it back in...dunno, just a thought

are you rolling when trying to put it in gear?

Same thing happened to me 2 weeks ago after I replaced my brothers clutch in his civic. replace the clutch cable with a new oem one if the old one is as tight as it will get.

thanks for the replies
it was replaced it with a 90 integra cable. i guess i still can tighten it but then the pressure is a lot more stiff on the clutch pedal. it feels great for the first half hour but then it feels like it needs tightened. i just don't understand why its fine at first and then after its been driven its like it comes loose.

when you tighten it is the bearing supposed to be against the pressure plate? cause right now there is about a 1/16" of play. i thought thats how it was supposed to be? can i tighten it agains the PP?

i guess my thought are is either

1. heat is causing it to expand
2. it just its way of breakin in?
3. its somehow not install right

from my experience, and out of the many hybrids i've seen i've never been wrong, its just the aftermarket cable clutch. every teg or civic i've been in with an aftermarket clutch is like that.

now a d-series honda OEM pp is pure butta.
so quit whinin, i'm sure there is nothing wrong
