CAR DIED!! 2 Major Codes - crank position sensor , top dead centre sensor #4 / #8
I was on my way home, in the rain, went around a corner and probably through a thin puddle. The engine just died as soon as I throttled it
I coasted a bit and the car wouldnt start
I can get it to start but its very lumpy jumpy, also throws 2 codes, code 4 and code 8
The car will run for 3-5 seconds and then just die, theres nothing you can do about it it dies.
I can start it and start it and start (its hesitant and I have to throttle it)
but it dies
Can anyone tell me what happenned? How can I fix it to bring my baby home, its sitting on the side of the road right now about 1/2km from home
Need asap help

Both of those sensors are in the distributor. It sounds to me like your connector to the distributor either is loose, or maybe it got water in it from the puddle. The connector is right of the distributor a couple of inche's. I'd disconnect the cable, dry it out, put it back together and give it a try.

No i remember there being a wire right under the dizzy , just one wire that clipped onto a mall sensor under the dizzy, that wire i think may have come loose as I used one size larger connector for it
Is that what would cause this?

i just went ans swapped the dizzies with one I bought off here, no dice, car threw the exact codes (after clearing them and restarting) and did the same thing
The sensor under the distributor also seems to be fine
The one wire sensor is a firm connection the 2 wire sensor beside it is intact
Ofcourse theres that off chance i was sold a distributor with this exact problem, but its highly unlikely
What do i do to get my car home? Its ******* parked next to my exgirlfriend to

Ouch you have poor luck! Did your timing belt jump by any chance?

I cant tell, everything was tight and perfect though and running mint
I just ROLLED around a 90* turn through water (dunno if it was a puddle or not but it was raiinging hard) and the car died, wasnt on the throttle at all
Im going back right now with another dizzy that I found, unknown goodness lol
I hope I can get some help here

BTW- the car ******* shuts off, like dies, I can have it at like 3k rpm (and it runs descent up there) and id dies, just dies no stumbling
Why would it do that, all the threads I see with these codes are just change or swap the dizzy, cars run crappy, mine ucking dies

I was just thinking that they could be false codes if the timing belt jumped, and the ecu is misreading the sensors because of it.

Does the engine sound different when you crank it over compared to before when it was running properly?
