Default burnt exhaust valves

im new to this whole Honda world and your site but I just picked up a 90 civic hatch d15b2 original 5speed and I got no compression on cylinder #2 (2nd one in from cam gear side?)
I did a leakdown test on that cylinder and got air escaping out the exhaust side. my questions to all you are
1. where and what gasket set should I get?
2. what tools would be best for the valve keeper removal?
3. where would I find a service manual for this model/year/type
4. what else should I check in there?

compression numbers are as follows
1. 140
2. 15
3. 145
4. 145

I also gotta fix the slop in the shifter.
what kind of mpg's should I expect out of this beast?

I think I'm going to just replace the head!

You should be at 30+

A head swap isn't hard but you have a DPFI motor, so you won't be getting much more performance out of it. The exhaust valves are not hard to replace. There are tools on the market that make it easier. Google will be your friend here.

I at the moment don't really care for performance I just want good mpg and reliability! While I build my other car!

What about a recommendation on a good gasket set?

OEM is usually suggested. I don't think you'll find a 'kit' or 'set'. You can try any of the online OE parts websites though.

As for aftermarket like Felpro and such, I do not know.

I wouldn't unless you need to (You didn't have any major leaking through the piston rings, did you?). And at that point, I'd do a complete overhaul. Get a whole motor gasket kit and redo everything if you are taking it apart enough to get at the pistons. Might as well replace the clutch with an Exedy OE style.

By the way, slop in the shifter is probably the bushing on the shift linkage. They go bad like all rubber pieces.

The clutch is like new exedy unit! When I put new head on it I'll check compression and repost my findings!

alright im back I finally got the head from the guy and it turns out its a 8 valve sohc crx head. so in theory I can pull the 2 exhaust valves from that head and put them in the cylinder that isn't sealing?

Why not just use the 8 valve head?

Also, Energy Suspension makes poly. bushings for the shifter. Look into those.

I don't believe that there are really benefits or downfalls either way. I had an 8 valve head on my 94 CX and was getting upwards of 55mpg. Of course the ECU and transmission were part of that equation, but I would imagine that if the MPFI setup on that car flows good enough through an 8 valve head, then your DPFI setup should be fine.

Well I got the 5 speed? And the "bushings" that were suggested didn't fix the slop. The shift linkage bushings didn't look replaceable so has anyone done it? I mean rebuilt the universal looking unit that connects to the shift input shaft?
