Default Brake Switch Problem

91 EX sedan, with cruise.

I was almost positive my brake light switch went out, my brake lights stayed illuminated with the car off, no matter what i would do to the brake pedal.

I removed the switch, bought one for an EF with NO cruise, so i had to take it back since the plugs were completely different. Also the price is about a $30 difference.

I picked up two other switches at pick a part and tried both of them, it seemed like neither worked because i had the same problem.

BUT, when i plugged in each switch, BEFORE i would mount it, i'de push the little button and my brake lights would go on/off as normal. But as soon as i'de put it into position, with various adjustments, it would act as if the pedal wasnt pressing the switch far enough.

Im lost, I dont daily the thing, but now i cant really drive it at all.

Doubtful, everything worked for the past month and a half. All of a sudden one evening i noticed my brake lights were staying on.

I adjusted the nut all the way towards to plug, making the button sit flush against the brake pedal arm. There was complete contact, pushing the button in directly.

There is a small plastic plug that makes contact with the brake light switch plunger that breaks apart over the years(it will look like a broken blue crayon on your floor board), you can get one at the dealership for $3-$5 or get creative and use something else, some people use a nut and bolt, some glue a penny on. There is a hole on the brake pedal arm that this plug goes into, line up the switch plunger and you will see it. There is also a plug on the clutch pedal arm that breaks too, it's the same Honda part number as the brake plug #46505-SA5-000.

Well, its missing the piece, i cleaned the interior a few days ago AFTER my brake problem. So i probably swiped it away without noticing. I'll fix this asap.
