I think it's been proven that compression doesn't increase spool time, but you make more power with less boost. It's more 'efficient'. Tuning technology has come so far since the days of 9:1 compression. That's old school.
Are you running around on a 9:1 b16 right now? That has to be slooooooow.

Re: blakes turbo sedan
i actually acquired the pistons very cheaply as in 50 bucks so no complaining here.
from a dig, my car eats ****... but i have a b18b block that is gonna go in for some sweet sleeves at 84 mm. I'm going for something like 500-575 on pump with the b18.
once my car hits the 3700-4000rpm range is where i lose traction all over the road... then again I'm on 13x5.5's

Re: blakes turbo sedan
and for the boost controller, it was a suggested brand from a local import shop since i didn't want to get a afc or electronic boost controller, at least not yet.

Re: blakes turbo sedan
we do have a good selection of e85 pumps around here, but I'm really just wanting to keep up with some of the vettes and bigger cars around here. there is a guy in town here with 780 hp k series in his e.g. coupe. so i want to at least give him a run.. lol

Re: blakes turbo sedan
Well, it really depends. Turbo choice, suspension set up, tire choice, wheel choice, etc all play a bigger part than just your peak HP. Keep that in mind. A near 800 HP EG will still get walked by a car with much less power that can properly hook up. You'll definitely want E85 if you plan to make 500+ wHP, in my opinion. Depends on the tuner and what octane gas you have. Some people have higher octane gas locally, I only have 93 and I've heard the knock threshold for 93 is right in that neighborhood.

Re: blakes turbo sedan Build
hmm, ill definitely keep that in mind. my tuner was able to get 482whp out of a e.g. hatch with a b20 vtec on 91 so ill see what i can do.

saving here in a paycheck or two, when i have the extra cash, to get the alpha series radiator for the half core, and to get rid of my gangster lean, and so i can run the intercooler piping properly.
