Default Battery Jumped With Battery Wont Stay On

My stupid friend tried to jump my ef hatch by placing another battery on top of the battery on the car!

The car will start but it wont stay on! the battery light on the dash keeps flickering then the car shuts off!

Any ideas? How much damage could it have caused?

Well if it jumped the car.... that means he got the polarities right! As for damage 2 the car in theory nothing should have been damaged..... unless at one point he put it on reverse polarity.... but that could have also blown up the battery...... I think u need to get ur alternator tested..... check if its even putting out a charge..... and go from there

Has to be your alternator. I had the same problem with mine. The light will probably flicker then go off as you rev the engine. Go and pick one up at Kragen for like a hundred bucks.

The battery icon on the light on the instrument panel is misleading. It is actually the charging system warning light, meaning the alternator or its wiring has failed somewhere. There is a good chance your friend did nothing wrong. Instead, your charging system cannot charge the battery. Some hints: http://honda.lioness.googlepages.com...alternatortips . Note especially the tip on only changing the alternator brushes. If the brushes are the problem, replacing them is cheap.

most definitely the alternator. that and the battery could have been damaged as well. check both of those.

I agree it's probably the alternator. sometimes you can have them rebuilt for $30 - $40.
