Default Bad wheel bearing. Easiest way out?

I have a CRX. The wheel bearing sounds like a dying dog. Never actually replaced a wheel bearing. Would it be easier to just replace the hub assembly?

Rear or front?........Rear doesn't get pressed, just replaced.......
Anyhow, FYI, Rear bearing $70 (I think).......
Front hub $152......front bearing $70.....front lower ball joint $45..........extended studs $5 each........$25 bearing press labor........

The easiest way out that you are asking for would be to get a complete junkyard knuckle ($70ea or pair?) and run it till it dies.....good luck

You can get a complete knuckle at a junkyard for $25-40 already puled off for you and thats definetely the simplest and easiest way

Chances are itll be fine for a good while

I just changed mine, got the bearing for free and the labour was done myself

if I didnt have the resources Id be heading tot he junkyard

He doesn't need to buy all that stuff. Just the bearing.

Take the knuckle off
press the hub out
press out old bearing
press in new bearing
press hub into new bearing
bolt the knuckle back on your car
Done.

The way i see it...if you were planning to do a brake upgrade you could go ahead and get EX knuckles since you need bearings anyway. Chances are the bearings will be alright but the problem is you just don't know how long and as old as these cars are it's a gamble. I didn't have the time to look around the junkyards and I didn't want to do all that work and have to take it apart to change the bearing a short while later so I just went with new Honda bearings in the existing hubs. At least I know they'll be good for a long long time.

The only thing that can go wrong with the hub is it the flange can crack. Ive seen that happen but its not very common on a street car.

you can't replace the hub to replace the bearing. just pull the hub off and fix the inner and outer bearing
